Exploring

About

Exploring is a career education program for young men and women who are 14 to 20 years old. Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and the organizations in their communities. Local community organizations initiate an Explorer post by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. Adults are selected by the participating organization for involvement in the program.

Goals

Exploring has five areas of emphasis in which youth gain experience and grow toward responsible adulthood:

  1.  Career Opportunities
  2.  Life Skills
  3.  Service Learning
  4.  Character Education
  5.  Leadership Experience

Membership

The program of every Explorer Post revolves around a career interest. Youth members are heavily involved in program planning and activities to ensure interest and enthusiasm for program activities. A variety of awards are available to Explorers and adults, from achievement awards such as the Career Achievement Award to recognitions including the Young American and Leadership awards. National scholarships are also available to Explorers.
