Shooting Sports are available to all ages groups of the Scouting Program
The Shooting Sports Training Team invites you to come and visit our website and look around. HERE
It has the latest Council Shooting Sports training dates & events, Council/District Shooting Sports Programs and more.
For Cub Scouts & Webelos Scouts Programs:
Archery and BB gun shooting are restricted to day camps, Cub Scout/Webelos Scout resident camps, council-managed
family camping programs, or to council/district activities held on or off BSA property where there are currently
trained BSA shooting sports range masters and all standards for BSA shooting sports are enforced.
Archery and BB gun shooting are not to be done at the pack level
Every month there are opportunities in NRA, US Archery & BSA Range Master Training including volunteering
for range operations at any shooting sports event.
For Boy Scout Troops, Crew and Sea Scouts Programs:
Troops, Crews and Sea Scouts can have Shooting Sports Program at Camp Barstow. Enjoy a fun shoot or complete
a Shooting Sports Merit Badge or a Shooting Sports Elective in the Venturing Program.
The IWC Shooting Sports team also offers the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program.
This program develops the Scouts skills, knowledge and attitude. And there are patches and rockers to be earned too!
Training and Certifications are available in:
NRA Training includes Range Safety Officer (RSO), Certified Instructor Training for Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun
and Muzzleloading (Black Powder) for adults 21 years and older. There is also training for youth ages 16-21.
US Archery, Basic Archery Instructor Certification, for those 16 years or older, by the date of the training.
BSA Range Master Training for adults operating ranges at temporary "off-site" locations, as well as the
Shooting Sports facilities at Camp Barstow.
